Overthinking Introvert: Thoughts on Infatuation

Overthinking Introvert: Thoughts on Infatuation

Being happy about infatuation may seem a bit odd, but don't dismiss it, hear me out.

I remember my first crush like it was yesterday. He was tall, dark, handsome and three years older than me. Seeing him brought butterflies to my stomach, but no words to my mouth. With a push from my best friend, I decided to finally stop staring at my crush and talk to him.

We hit it off and began dating a short while later. The relationship ended within a year but I learned something important from that experience and my subsequent feelings of infatuation with other crushes.

I learned that I'm brave.

Infatuation may not lead to lasting love but it you can push you to experience things outside your comfort zone. Some of the best experiences I've had simultaneously lifted my spirits and broke my heart.

In those moments, the heartbreak felt extremely painful, but I'm thankful for the heartbreaks. I pursued guys I was interested in and I don't regret putting myself out there. If I hadn't tapped into my bravery, my first love would've never existed.
